‘Prepared not scared' is the Civil Defence motto in the Kaikōura District. Residents are encouraged to take responsibility for their own safety and well-being and that of any visitors or guests. This means that the communities of Kaikōura need to get ready now so that they can take care of each other in an emergency.
In times of emergency, the Kaikōura District Council will provide as much information to the community and visitors as possible through a variety of channels, including their website kaikoura.govt.nz and on Facebook @KaikouraDistrictCouncil.
Radio stations are a vital means of getting the word out during a disaster event and are a great way to stay in the loop. Below is a list of radio frequencies for the district.
